Watson's Mill
5525 Dickinson
Built: 1860
Haunted: 1920
History
The Mill was built by Dickinson and Currier in 1860, constructed from limestone quarried from the riverbank of the Rideau River.
Anna, wife of Mr. Currier for just one short month, was killed when her skirt caught in the machinery, catapulting her against a support post one early afternoon.
The mill was sold to the Spratts in 1929. Mr. Spratt died 6 years later, but the mill remained in the family until purchased by Harry Watson in 1946.
Hauntings
The sounds of a woman's ghostly cries have been reported, along with moaning inside the mill.
An extreme cold spot can be felt around one particular post (perhaps the one that killed Anna), while the
apparition of a white, shadowy woman in a long dress has been seen moving from one upstairs window to the next.
