Black Creek
Lighthouse Restaurant & Pub
4301 Niagara Parkway
Built: 1800s
Haunted: unknown

History
The Lighthouse Restaurant and Pub dates back to the early 1800s, when Black Creek was just a small village on the banks of the Niagara River. It was originally a lumber mill, and was a key segment of the underground railroad system that brought black slaves to freedom north of the border.

Over the past 200 years, the site has also served as an inn, a pub, an ice cream parlour, and (most recently) a restaurant.

While the building itself is not known to have a particularly violent history (outside of the expected bar brawls), it has been surrounded by tragedy. The battle of Chippawa, and other events associated with the war of 1812, happened just down river. More recently (late 1900s), a pair of children drowned in the river across the road.

Hauntings
An apparition of a soldier from the 1800s, in full military uniform, has been seen standing in the corner of the main floor. Staff of the restaurant have also reported seeing the apparition of an elderly gentleman, in full dress, carrying a musket. He has been spotted on the bridge outside and in the basement.

A 19th century barmaid has been seen on the 2nd floor, where the lights have been known to fade to almost nothing. Legend has it, young lovers on the 2nd floor are most closely watched over by the resident ghosts.

Finally, as might be expected, given the drowning accident nearby, the presence of two young children has often been remarked upon by both guests and employees.
